The Riccobono Lab is the concrete manifestation of the Riccobono Group's unwavering commitment to innovation and research.
A veritable cradle of innovative ideas, this innovation laboratory is not an isolated entity; it is integrated into the heart of our operations, working closely with all our centres to transform avant-garde visions into tangible realities.

Beyond simple observation, we immerse ourselves in technological advances, collaborating with suppliers and actively participating in trade shows to capture every nuance of evolution in the graphic arts field, but not only.
We also keep a close eye on other sectors, as there are bound to be ideas that we can take on board and adapt to our business.
Incubation of Ideas
We incubate ideas by modelling and creating machine prototypes. It's not just about creating, adapting and improving. From the development of classic label routing and fold-over label routing to research into accelerated digital printing, every innovative idea is carefully studied, tested and refined to perfection.
This is how several patents have been registered.
The introduction of a new heat-sealing paper manufacturing process is a good example, and other ideas are still being incubated.
Process optimisation
Our aim is not just to create, but also to improve our processes. Working closely with our production centres, we continually refine our processes to ensure maximum efficiency, unrivalled quality and reduced costs.
All the Group's centres are already working to research and improve their processes. The Lab is an accelerator for speed and reliability, sharing not only our progress but also our failures.
When a plant is faced with a failure, we systematically carry out an analysis and put in place an action plan to ensure that it doesn't happen again. The aim in this case is for all the Group's plants to be informed and to take ownership of the progress plan put in place.

Riccobono System
Not only are we committed to investing in the most efficient industrial solutions on the market, but we are also convinced that it is through our commitment to meeting the many challenges we face that we will find the right innovative solutions. This is how we have been able to register a number of patents.

GRS >> Gestion Riccobono System, we have created our ERP called GRS. We chose to develop our own in-house ERP, and our Gestion Riccobono System software manages quotations, manufacturing, production and invoicing. The main priority of this software is to ensure that there are never any double entries, which are a source of errors and wasted time.

The ERS >> Enduction Riccobono System, we have launched our own heat sealing machine with new manufacturing processes, with 3 versions for flat reels (ERS flat), folded reels (ERS fold) and tube reels (ERS Tube). The advantage of this manufacturing process is that heat-sealable paper is very thin, enabling publishers to save on postage costs.

PBRS >> Postal Bag Riccobono System, we are innovating in the postal sector with the PBRS. This automated solution makes it possible to create addressed packages, eliminating the need for traditional postal bags. Unlike the old woven plastic bags, which were heavy and required costly and environmentally unfriendly logistics, the PBRS offers a lightweight, environmentally friendly alternative that is also more convenient for users.

LRS >> Label Riccobono System, our concept using the label to offer an alternative to plastic film. The LBS has enabled us to create 4 variations: Label Press, Label Press Folding, Label Pack and Label Fix
- Label Press: addressing on a classic removable label: Instead of making a blank space on the cover or back cover to print the postal address, we glue on a label with removable glue and print the sender and recipient addresses on this label.
- Label Press Folding: addressing on a removable folding label, closed on one side: An innovation based on the same principle as Label Press but with an additional feature: it is positioned along the long side of the title and part of the label is folded over to close the magazine. This option allows you to place up to 3 inserts inside your newspaper or magazine.
- The Label Pack: joining two objects with a label: this patent uses only the flap feature to join two magazines along their long sides, and the spines are glued together with fugitive glue. There is no addressing, and this version is dedicated to one-off sales.
- The Label Fix: the round label that closes the title on one side: Once again we use the functionality of the flap to be able to place inserts inside the magazine or newspaper and close the title. There is no addressing, and this version is dedicated to single-issue sales or delivery.

Our in-house research and development department has developed innovative solutions that have been patented by the INPI.

The ERS patent: Enduction Riccobono System developed by the LRS, the ERS is the heat-sealing paper manufacturing machine with new manufacturing processes that the Lab has created. As a result, we can now offer a very thin heat-sealable paper that enables publishers to save on postage costs. This heat-sealing paper is called SEP Seal Eco Paper. In the graphic arts sector, it is known as Paper Press and replaces plastic film as a way of putting your press title on paper.
LRS has enabled us to create a number of alternatives to addressed plastic film packaging for postal subscribers. These are sustainable, economical and ecological solutions for newspapers, magazines and inserts.

Methodology Work
Within a company we always have that famous person who is known as the "Geo Trouvetout". They prefer to improve rather than repair, they prefer to create and give that little personal touch that helps to improve the company's performance. The Riccobono Lab is made up of all these people, and it's thanks to their ability to go beyond the normal that we've already been able to present you with innovative solutions, and we'll continue to do so.
Our working method is a collaborative effort involving all the teams in the 4 divisions: Press, Magazine, Finishing Packaging and Distribution. The Riccobono Lab should lead to the creation of new, innovative solutions for the market. A number of innovative solutions have already been patented. This unit is run by the Group's Industrial Director, who is always on the lookout for new solutions for customers and partners.
